The Phantom is an ergonomic, aerodynamic, super stealthy day pack for ultra-lightweight overnighters or day-long summit hikes. Panel-loading to help you locate that energy bar at the bottom of the pack, and sporting Mountainsmith's new suspension system, this little spook is built to keep you walking on air.

In tandem with the re-release of their legendary Ghost pack, Mountainsmith introduces the Phantom 40, smaller and lighter than the Ghost but sharing many of their new features. Mountainsmith's new suspension system includes their Iliac Crest Shelf hip belt and Lumbar Control Point padding. Both work together to use your skeleton's natural load-bearing ability so your muscles and joints bear less weight, suffer less strain, and you can go farther while experiencing less fatigue. Also new with the Phantom is the Breezeway back panel, suspending the load away from your spine and allowing air to circulate around your back. Its 40 liters of total cargo space is supplemented by the detachable front pocket, which you can use as a lumbar pack for quick excursions away from camp. Tool and trekking pole attachments and a hydration bladder sleeve top off the Phantom to make it a truly stand-out summiting machine.
